Whoa! Well, in case ya missed Sunday night’s ‘Pause’ episode of The Boondocks, here ya go. Wow, and I must confess–I’m speechless. That is all.

Random Trivia: Believe it or not, this was my first time watchin’ an episode of “The Boondocks.” Nothing against the show or Aaron McGruder–just don’t watch much television but I AM curious to know how Tyler Perry and his fans feel about THIS ONE, my goodness!

Janet Jackson at London Premiere of ‘Why Did I Get Married Too?’

Janet Jackson hit up the preview screening of ‘Why Did I Get Married Too?’ today (May 21, 2010) in London, England.

She plays the role of ‘Patricia’ in the film and of course, Tyler Perry was there as well.

Random Trivia: The movie had a budget of $20 million and has already grossed $60 million domestically. Been out barely 2 months.

Tyler Perry’s Credit Card Stolen! $28,492.22 in Charges

Filmmaker Tyler Perry took some time out to email his usual “personal message” to his fans today. First, the good news for you Tyler Perry fans (and yes, I’m one of’em):

Madea’s Big Happy Family is on tour and performed 125 shows in 126 days. Incredible. Over 700,000 attendees saw the show and the play has broken all kinds of records.

Getting through Mother’s Day was tough for Perry (his mother passed away not too long ago) but he’s been at a little vacation spot for which he says is “beautiful and peaceful.”

The not-so-good news: the man’s credit card was recently stolen and someone charged over $28,000 in—see below, Tyler actually listed all the things charged. Interesting.

Lastly, he mentions in the email that “If you know any of these people, call the police.”

Sad how cruel some people are but this is the world we live in. Good thing 28K is “chump change” for Mr. Perry…

…but anyway, I memba one time when my bank actually called me on my cell phone wondering if I was in the bank tryin’ to withdraw some money. I was like, “Huh?” They were like, “It’s a courtesy call but there’s someone who looks like you in our branch trying to withdraw funds.”

I was like, “Huh??”

Lord have mercy–and they had the nerve to go to “Toys R Us.” Wrong! LOL.

Lionsgate Acquires 11th Tyler Perry Movie

My friends over at Shadow and Act are reporting that Lionsgate has just acquired rights to Tyler Perry’s 11th film, Madea’s Big Happy Family (an adaptation of his new stage play, Madea’s Happy Family, which is currently on tour in the U.S.) aiming for an Easter release – specifically, April 22, 2011… about a year from now.

11 films? That’s amazing. And 11 profitable films at that. Tyler Perry haters need to go ‘head on and just hush, lol. The man must be doin’ somethin’ right.

Yeah, we can debate a lot of issues when is comes to the kinds of films African-American filmmakers produce but when it’s all said and done, it’s all entertainment–won’t be goin’ to the grave with us, hehe.

New Movie: Tyler Perry Announces Cast of ‘For Colored Girls’

Black Voices has learned that writer/director/producer Tyler Perry has selected the cast for next film, ”For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.‘

At last night’s premiere for his latest film, ‘‘Why Did I Get Married Too?,’ the black box-office maverick revealed that the cast will include Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, and Macy Gray.

Based on Ntozake Shange‘s award-winning 1975 play, the film is scheduled to shoot in June in New York with a possible winter 2010/ 2011 release date.

Nice to see Whoopi in somethin’ again. Go Whoopi! But Tyler just keeps crankin’em out, doesn’t he? Amazing.

Tyler Perry Studios Hosts Neil C. Ellis’ “Pursuing the Glory” Book Launch

ATLANTA, March 17 /PRNewswire/ — Tyler Perry Studios makes plans to host Bishop Neil C. Ellis and some 50 members of the US Media, at a special press gala and luncheon on Thursday, March 18th at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. This event marks the national release of Ellis’ latest book, Pursuing the Glory, published by Pneuma Life Publishing. Neil C. Ellis is founder and senior minister of the 8,000 member Mount Tabor Full Gospel Baptist Church, based in Nassau, Bahamas; a chain of islands near the Florida Coast. He also serves as 2nd Presiding Bishop of the 500,000 member Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International, the second largest predominately African-American Christian denomination in the United States; founded by Bishop Paul S. In 2007, Ellis noticed complications related to what was then perceived to be a throat infection, which prompted him to seek the help of his Primary Care Physician. It was soon determined that he had severally damaged his right vocal cord, and was in desperate need of immediate repair; otherwise he would risk permanently losing his ability to speak and preach, if went untreated. Ellis agreed to surgery, and within a few weeks of voice rest from his first round in a series of surgeries; he began compiling sermon notes, which later became the book, Pursuing the Glory, and has become the central message of a new mandate he believes God has called him to. Joining Mr. Ellis in promoting this new message is colleague, and mega-church minister, Pastor Paula White, of Without Walls International Church, based in Tampa, Florida. “The body of Christ is in crucial times; we are in an age where we cannot afford to miss any opportunity to hear God — even when we experience test and trials. ‘Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself’ Sells 1.1 Million DVDs

Amazing. Tyler Perry haters should just “zip it” lol.

Although his next film isn’t set for release until April, Tyler Perry continues to make noise with his last one. ‘Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself’ debuted at number one on the DVD charts, selling 1.1 million units in its first week.

Released last fall and starring Taraji P. Henson, Tyler Perry, Adam Rodriguez and Mary J. Blige, the film grossed $51 million domestically.

Lionsgate also released on DVD ‘Tyler Perry’s House of Payne: Volume 5′ this past week.
