Throwback Video: Breakin’ (There’s No Stopping Us)

Gotta love this throwback video (opening theme song) from the movie “Breakin’.” Some of y’all are too young to memba this. LOL, I sound all old, huh?

I ain’t dat old, darn it. Anyway, true bloggers/writers never run outta ideas. Bloggers gotta keep it movin’, and with 5 to 10 posts a day, it’s my job to keep the blog interesting too.

I go with the flow. Sometimes I marvel at how I come up with an idea for a blog post. That’s one of the things I love about blogging. It’s not just the writing or the stories or the articles or whatever…

…sometimes it’s just the creative process and/or the way you come up with a blog post that makes it exciting and I love that; the spontaneity I mean.

So…would you like for me to share with you the sequence of events that led to this post? LOL. And why I’m up writing this at 3:24am? LOL.

Well, let’s just say I’m excited about all 100 of you who now subscribe to my daily feed to this blog. Thank you. I’m also excited about the hundreds of new people that visit my blog every day and the thousands of posts that are read here each day. I hope you’re enjoying my blog. As you can see by now, I’m a very eclectic type of guy, lol.

Anyway, the blog still continues to grow every day and I thank God for that. Believe it or not, this blog is filled with nearly 2000 articles and posts!

But I’m now interested in taking this blog to new heights, got some surprises for ya so stick with me.

Aiight, so earlier this evening I did this little blurb on my old friend Ricky Schroder. He’s in this new movie called “Blood Done Sign My Name.”
I love to read peoples’ biographies and most of the time, if I stumble upon someone famous, I’ll also Wikipedia them, lol.
So I was up in the wee hours (as usual) checkin’ my email, checking blog stats, readin’ up on technology, Internet marketing, blogging, social networking–all that good stuff.
I decided to check Google Trends (which I rarely do) for some reason and noticed actress Lela Rochon was in the top 20. Probably all the new talk about “Waiting to Exhale” I thought.
Curious about Lela, I did my research and found out she’s in the new movie “Blood Done Sign My Name.” Ah, that’s familiar, the new movie I knew Ricky was in. So Lela’s working again. “Good,” I thought.
But of course, I had to do my usual “wikipedia search” and found out that before her present marriage (currently married over 10 years to director Antoine Fuqua) she was married to Shabba-Doo. Shabba-Who? Shabba-Doo, lol.
Then I’m like, “OMG what has Shabba-Doo been up to? LOL. Well, seems, he served as choreographer for Jamie Kennedy’s new MTV sitcom, Blowin’ Up and choreographed Three Six Mafia’s performance on the 78th Academy Awards.
But for me, Shabba-Doo (I keep thinkin’ about The Flintstones for some reason) brought back memories of the movie “Breakin’!” And that song…(singing) There’s No Stopping Us..No Stoppin’…lol.
And surprisingly, I just so happened to spot Lela while watching the movie’s opener (see .51 mark and 1:52). According to IMDB.com, Lela is credited as being an “Extra in first scene (uncredited)” of “Breakin’.”
Ah, it all comes together now.

So now you know how this blog post came about. Interesting, eh?

It’s The Return of Nino Brown in ‘Brooklyn’s Finest’

OMG it’s the return of “Nino Brown!”

Richard Gere’s in it, the amazing Don Cheadle is in it, Ethan Hawke, Ellen Barkin, Lili Taylor, wow. But for me, it’s “The Return of Nino Brown.” Yep, that’s what they should’ve called this movie: The Return of Nino Brown. That’s my boy, Snipes is back!

C’mon, peep the trailer, look at that night shot with Snipes and Cheadle. That’s CMB all the way, lol. ”We all we got!” Gurantee ya, before the film’s release the titled will be revamped to: “Nino Brown: Brooklyn’s Finest” LOL. j/k. What? I can’t believe some of you have never heard of Nino Brown…

Brooklyn’s Finest is directed by Antoine Fuqua, and also stars Don Cheadle, Richard Gere, Michael K. Williams, and Ethan Hawke, Jesse Williams, Ellen Barkin, Lili Taylor, Brian F. O’Byrne, Will Patton, and Vincent D’Onofrio.

Burned out veteran Eddie Dugan (played by Gere) is just one week away from his pension and a fishing cabin in Connecticut. Narcotics officer Sal Procida (played by Hawke) has discovered there’s no line he won’t cross to provide a better life for his long-suffering wife and seven children. And Clarence “Tango” Butler (played by Cheadle) has been undercover so long his loyalties have started to shift from his fellow police officers to his prison buddy Caz (played by Snipes), one of Brooklyn’s most infamous drug dealers.

With personal and work pressures bearing down on them, each man faces daily tests of judgment and honor in one of the world’s most difficult jobs. When NYPD’s Operation Clean Up targets the notoriously drug-ridden BK housing project, all three officers find themselves swept away by the violence and corruption of Brooklyn’s gritty 65th Precinct and its most treacherous criminals.

During seven fateful days, Eddie, Sal and Tango find themselves hurtling inextricably toward the same fatal crime scene and a shattering collision with destiny.
The film captures the volatile and deadly world of one of New York’s most dangerous precincts through the eyes of the men and women pledged to protect and serve, as they face the wrenching choices that make them “Brooklyn’s Finest.”

Brooklyn’s Finest is set to hit theaters on March 5, 2010.

‘Training Day’ Director Antoine Fuqua to Helm The Nicky Cruz Story

I’m excited they’re taking “Run Baby Run: The Life Story of Nicky Cruz” to the next level. Been following Mr. Cruz for many years and he truly has a story to tell.

The production company seems top-notch and you can’t miss with “Training Day” director Antoine Fuqua helming the project. They’re starting out the gate strong and that’s a good thing.

Nicky Cruz is well known in evangelical circles as the former gang member who turned his life around after converting to Christianity.

His autobiography, published in 1968, became a best-seller, and his life provided fodder for “The Cross and the Switchblade” a 1970 movie starring Erik Estrada.

But Cruz, who leads a Christian outreach organization in Colorado Springs, remains relatively unknown to the general public.

That may change next summer when a feature film about Cruz’s life is scheduled to hit movie theaters.

David Urabe, president of Convolo Productions in Los Angeles, wants to bring Cruz’s story to a mainstream audience, not just a Christian one, as was largely the case with the 1970 movie.

The new film, tentatively titled “Run Baby Run: The Life Story of Nicky Cruz,” has a $12 million budget, Urabe said.

The director is Antoine Fuqua, who directed the 2001 film “Training Day,” which made more than $76 million at the U.S. box office. The screenwriter is Gregory Anderson, who wrote “Stomp the Yard,” which made nearly $61.4 million in the U.S. in 2007.

Cruz, the film’s creative consultant, said it will not be a “cheesy” Christian movie. It will be critical of how mainstream Christianity has been practiced over the last 10 years, he said, and will delve into the world of dysfunctional families.

“I hope that teenagers and parents looking for release from their problems will finding something helpful in it,” he said.
