I usually don’t throw my opinion in my blog posts as I like to consider myself “an observer” of things. Experience has taught me to just watch things unfold and not judge any situation or anyone.

With that being said, what do you think about what Tim LaHaye (the best-selling author from the Left Behind series) said about president Barack Obama? Is this U.S. president “bringing the country closer to the apocalypse” or is this just right-wing foolery and nonsense to you? Video below.

Evangelical Christian minister Tim LaHaye says that the policy initiatives put forth by the Obama administration are bringing the country “closer to the apocalypse.”

LaHaye issued the dire warning in an appearance this week on Mike Huckabee’s talk show on Fox News.

“Our present president doesn’t seem to get it,” LaHaye explained. “He doesn’t understand that some of the things he’s introducing that many of us call ‘raw socialism’ — it’s a different name, but it’s essentially government control and government domination of everything.”

The evangelical voice said of the political platform maintained by the Obama administration, “It’s going to work against our country and bringing us closer to the apocalypse.”

President Obama Visits “The View”

President Barack Obama will be joining the hosts of “The View” this Thursday (7.29.10), in an appearance that ABC said would be “the first time in history a sitting United States president has visited a daytime talk show.”

In a news release on Monday, ABC said that the presidential episode would be broadcast on Thursday but will be taped on Wednesday. Mr. Obama’s chat with the unpredictable co-hosts, including the staunch liberal Joy Behar and the equally staunch conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck, is emblematic of his administration’s outreach to unconventional media outlets.

“Given the difficulty of reaching people in this hyperactive media environment, we look for opportunities to reach people in environments that are not traditional forums for political newsmakers,” Dan Pfeiffer, the White House communications director, said in an e-mail message. “That’s why we have been willing to have the president on Leno, Letterman and ESPN.”

Mr. Pfeiffer said an appearance on “The View” had been contemplated for several weeks because the president was scheduled to be in New York City for a fund-raiser.

The WHCA was founded in 1914 by journalists in response to an unfounded rumor that a Congressional committee would select which journalists could attend press conferences of President Woodrow Wilson.^[1] Among the issues handled by the WHCA are press access to the President and physical conditions in White House press briefing rooms.

The WHCA’s annual dinner, begun in 1920, has become a Washington, D.C. tradition and is usually attended by the President and Vice President.^[1] Thirteen presidents have attended a WHCA dinner, beginning with Calvin Coolidge in 1924. Erykah Badu Could Face Indecency Charges for ‘Window Seat’ Video

Although I never actually posted the video on the site, I did write an article on the artistic and spiritual aspect of Erykah Badu‘s ‘Window Seat’ video because it showed empowerment and freedom of expression in America.

I enjoy blogging because it allows me to cover many aspects or “angles” to a single, particular blog post or topic. There’s always two sides (sometimes three, lol) to every story and that’s what makes blogging exciting to me.

When it comes to certain topics of discussion, I do not consider any of my blog posts “the standard” simply because there are many so-called “standards,” voices, and/or opinions about every aspect of life and from peoples from all walks of life.

And though I make no apologies in regards to my previous post about the artistic nature of Erykah Badu’s ‘Window Seat’ video, I must address “the indecency” aspect of the video.

Let me get to the point. First of all, when the video was first released, there was much speculation as to whether some parts of the video was shot on a “green screen,” not actually shot on location. Honestly, the video was somewhat blurry and it did look digitally enhanced to some extent. Note: I am not referring to the so-called digital manipulation on Ms. Badu’s physique as I don’t think any of that was manipulated.

But I did assume that the “background people” could have been manipulated in some way. People seemed somewhat ‘out of touch‘ with the subject (Ms. Badu). I only viewed the video once so I could be mistaken.

However after watching the below news footage and now realizing there were actual “live witnesses” during the video shoot, I can certainly understand why parents would be offended with Ms. Badu. There were children on the scene. With that being said, I do not think the video should have been shot in a location where there were children involved.

Finally, I do not believe Ms. Badu made the video with the intent of arousing anyone.

Karl Rove Heckled, Called ‘War Criminal’ at Book Event

Los Angeles, California (CNN) — Former White House chief of staff Karl Rove was heckled and branded a “war criminal’ at a book signing in Beverly Hills, California, on Monday night.

Rove, who served as senior adviser and deputy chief of staff to President Bush, was at the Saban Theater to discuss his new book, “Courage and Consequences: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight,” to an audience of about 100 people who paid up to $40 to hear him.

Could California Be the First State to Legalize Marijuana?

Forget the cigarette smoke, imagine walkin’ in a restaurant and seein’ folks (young and old, lol) firin’ up blunts, lol.

LOL, not sure if it’ll ever come to that extreme but on a more serious note, yeah, a recent new California voter initiative would legalize possession and not too surprisingly, the sale of marijuana in California has indeed qualified for the November ballot.

Wow, lawd have mercy…there’s gonna be a lot of happy, lazy, good-for-nothin’, snackin’ on everrrthang, folks out there who…just kiddin’ lol, ya’ll know I’m just kiddin’…achem, back to the “serious news…”

Passage of the measure, by no means certain, would make California the first U.S. state to legalize marijuana. Backers believe the state could be at the vanguard of a national movement toward decriminalizing the drug.

“This is a watershed moment in the decades-long struggle to end marijuana prohibition in this country,” said Stephen Gutwillig, California director of the Drug Policy Alliance, which has spearheaded the ballot initiative.

“Banning marijuana outright has been a disaster, fueling a massive, increasingly brutal underground economy, wasting billions in scarce law enforcement resources and making criminals out of countless law-abiding citizens,” he said.

California Secretary of State Debra Bowen said in a written statement that her office had certified the measure for the November 2 general election ballot after backers submitted the required number of signatures on petitions.

Bowen said that proponents, who needed 433,971 valid signatures to qualify for the ballot, had submitted 694,248 that were verified through a random sampling.

It’s official: Shawn Corey Carter is a statesman. Or should I rephrase that and say, It’s official: Shawn Corey KNOWLES-Carter is a statesman?

“We did it again, Brooklyn! Shout out to B.I.G.,” a triumphant Jay-Z declared at the ceremonial groundbreaking of the 18,000-seat Barclays Center at Atlantic Yards, the future home of the Brooklyn Nets.

Governor David Paterson, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, and Beyoncé were present to mark the momentous occasion. Oh and how could I forget the Reverend Al Sharpton; he was present as well.

“What I stand here and represent is hope for New York City. I’m a son of Brooklyn, I’m from Marcy Projects,” said the hip-hop mogul, one of the investors in the sports and entertainment arena. “It brings me so much pride that I’mma get a little nervous about it, but I’m very happy, I’m very excited on this day.”
