World’s First Full Face Transplant Man Revealed! (Video)

A Spanish man who underwent the world’s first full face transplant revealed his new look on Monday before television cameras, paying tribute to doctors and the donor’s family as he left the hospital.

The 31-year-old, identified only as Oscar, thanked his donor’s family and the medics that gave him a new face in March at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital in Barcelona.

“Friends, I want to thank the hospital coordinators, the entire medical team, the family of the donor and, most of all, my family who are supporting me these days.”

The man — who reportedly suffered injuries in a shooting accident five years ago — spoke at the televised news conference with considerable difficulty and could not close his mouth and his face appeared swollen.

Doctors say he can expect to regain up to 90% of his facial functions.

African-Americans at Risk of Skin Cancer from Sun Exposure

African-Americans are certainly not off the hook when it comes to getting skin cancer; Melanoma does not discriminate.

In fact, African-Americans are more likely to die from melanoma — the deadliest, most common form of skin cancer — than are Caucasians in the United States.

And although the incidence of skin cancer was more than 10 times higher among whites, African-Americans who contracted melanoma had a far lower survival rate than whites, according to a study done by the University of Michigan.

i-Dosing: Are Your Teens Getting High Off Their Computers?

Have you guys heard of i-dosing? Bet you haven’t. Well, teens today are getting high off their computers…sorta.

Check out this news broadcast I recently discovered about this new “i-dosing” craze. Seems a lot of kids are downloading “digital drugs” which are basically noises/sounds that gets them “high.” All they need is an computer/internet connection and a MP3 player, basically.

Apparently they’re feeling all of these strange sensations and it’s somehow affecting them and not just mentally but physiologically.

Doesn’t sound too serious? Well, many of these i-dosing and digital drug sites lure these kids into more serious drug and drug paraphernalia websites and that’s what makes it even more dangerous, so be careful parents…and teens.

School Gives Condoms Out to First Graders

How young is too young?

That’s the question a Massachusetts public school is facing as they have come under fire for making condoms available to all students, even those in elementary school.

Children start first grade between 5 and 7 years old.

Kris Mineau, president of the conservative Massachusetts Family Institute, calls the idea absurd.

But Provincetown School Board Chairman Peter Grosso defended the policy, saying there is no set age when sexual activity starts.

Under the policy, any student requesting a condom from a school nurse must first receive counseling, which includes information on abstinence. The policy does not require the school to contact parents.

The policy was approved by Provincetown’s school committee June 10. It takes effect in the fall.

Texting is the new way to communicate. Recent research from Nielsen indicates that people under age 45 now send and receive three times more text messages than calls on their cell phones. And thanks to hot toys like the iPhone, 75 billion tiny messages a month light up tiny screens across America. We’re also texting multitaskers: A recent survey found that 77 percent of respondents said they’ve texted or sent mobile e-mail while driving; 41 percent while skiing, horseback riding, or biking; 11 percent during a romantic interlude; and 16 percent while at a funeral. About the video: A British ad on the dangers of texting while driving is the most graphic yet, but one road safety expert says if it saves just one life then its a good ad. Produced by the Gwent Police Department in Wales, it shows the bloody outcome of texting while driving.

Three teen girls giggle over a message they are sending, then the distracted driver smashes head-on into another car. The girl in the passenger seat, barely alive after the impact, is killed when a third car slams into them.

The carnage extends to another car, where a young girl asks why her parents aren’t waking up, and another shot shows an apparently dead baby in close-up.

Things were going smooth, the officer was teaching the young class about the dangers of guns…good message but DOH!! The cop accidentally shoots HIMSELF in the foot!

Whew! But the man kept his cool (while limping) while doin’ his best to prove a point and finish his “lecture.”

McDonald’s Recalls 12 Million Toxin-Tainted ‘Shrek’ Glasses

Toxic cadmium has been discovered in the painted design on “Shrek”-themed drinking glasses being sold nationwide at McDonald’s, forcing the fast food company to recall 12 million of the U.S.-made collectibles.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which announced the voluntary recall early Friday, warned consumers to immediately stop using the glasses; McDonald’s said it would post instructions on its website next week regarding refunds.

The 16-ounce glasses, being sold for about $2 each as part of a promotional campaign for the movie “Shrek Forever After,” were available in four designs depicting the characters Shrek, Princess Fiona, Puss in Boots and Donkey.

Aretha Franklin Receives Honorary Doctorate From Yale

Yale University afforded the “Queen of Soul,” Aretha Franklin, a lot of R-E-S-P-E-C-T and love Monday, with a short musical tribute and sustained cheering, when she was awarded an honorary doctor of music degree.

Franklin was one of several luminaries at Yale’s 309th commencement ceremony, with award-winning actor, Denzel Washington and producer Steven Spielberg, both in the audience on the Old Campus and playing the role of proud parents of graduating seniors.
