Riding on the success of his “Watch the Throne” project, Kanye West leads the pack of 2012 BET Hip-Hop Award nominations with a total of 17 nominations — MVP of the Year, Video Director of the Year and Lyricist of the Year among others.
2 Chainz and Drake follow Yeezy with 13 and 11 nods respectively. 2 Chainz and Yeezy are additionally up against each other for Made You Look Award, while the former appears alongside A$AP Rocky, Ca$h Out, Future and Meek Mill in Rookie of the Year field.
Also, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Meek and J. Cole are among other artists who received multiple nominations, which is set to air October 9.
Comedian Mike Epps is on board as the host, and show performers will be announced later. The show will also include an all-star tribute to the late producer Chris Lighty.
