Earthquake Preparedness: Prepare. Plan. Stay Informed.

Costa-Rica-Earthquake

First of all, there is no need to live in fear…but be wise.

I live in California so I’m used to the earthquakes. Out of sheer curiosity I’ve been visiting the Live Earthquakes Map daily for the past month and I am truly fascinated. There are dozens upon dozens of earthquakes happening all over the world on a daily basis.

It’s been like that for many, many years. I call it the “Grace of God” — because it’s by the grace of God things aren’t worse with so many earthquakes occurring daily.

Unfortunately, when it comes to earthquakes — they, the earthquakes — ARE getting worse.

Take a look at the map. Just today there was a major 7.6 (downgraded from 7.9) off the coast of Costa Rica. A tsunami warning was issued.

And would you look at California? We have the most earthquakes. Amazing. So be wise, be prepared. At least have an earthquake kit, first aid kit, flashlights, candles, battery-powered radio, lots of water, a plan, etc.

Visit the FEMA site here for more information on how you can prepare for an earthquake.

Stay safe.
