Aretha Franklin: “I Wanna Be An ‘American Idol’ Judge!”

Aretha Franklin

The Queen of Soul is ready to be an American Idol judge and she’s letting the world know it.

Ms. Franklin recently told CNN in an e-mail Saturday that she is interested in joining Idol as a judge. The 18-time Grammy winner says she is a longtime fan of the show and would also like to bring fellow legendary songstress Patti LaBelle as her fellow judge.

Fox declined to comment to CNN about Franklin’s e-mail.

This’ll be the 12th season of A.I. and the talent competition show recently lost two judges, as you may know – Steven Tyler and J-Lo.

Randy Jackson, who has been on the judging panel since the show’s 2002 debut, is the only remaining judge.

Other celebs like Mariah Carey and Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert have been reported to be vying for the vacant seats (even though Mariah’s husband Nick Cannon says they’d have to pay her double what J-Lo received).

I think the Queen of Soul would be perfect for the spot — or even Stevie Wonder — why not?
