Adam Sandler’s ‘That’s My Boy’ Movie Big Flop at the Box Office

That's My Boy Movie

I didn’t even realize Adam Sandler‘s movie That’s My Boy was a rated R film. Did you? Maybe that’s why it didn’t do so well at the box office because according to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie was a big flop over the weekend.

The measly $15.1 million (production budget $70 million!) debut over the weekend of the movie marks the worst performance for a Sandler comedy since Spanglish opened to $8.8 million in 2004 (Reign Over Me, an R-rated drama, opened to an even worse $7.5 million in 2007).

Sidenote: I still haven’t seen Reign Over Me, but I actually heard that it was pretty good.

That’s My Boy apparently has a raunchy storyline and R rating and is something of a departure for Sandler, since he’s mostly made broad comedies.

I bet if it were PG-13 it may have done better. Or maybe folks are no longer feeling Adam? Maybe it’s the voice? LOL. It used to be funny back in the SNL days but it seems he’s resorting to “the voice” in every movie, no?

Does he like, have chewing tobacco stuck in his bottom lip or somethin’? LOL!

This project seemed doomed from the start since the original title was called I Hate You Dad. Studio had to quickly change that–wouldn’t have worked on a Father’s Day weekend.
