Throwback Video: Swing Out Sister – ‘Breakout’

Okay, I’m taking you back to around 1986 on this one. I must’ve been around 15. I remember attending this dance show (kinda like American Bandstand) where Nia Peeples was the host. I actually went (by myself) because I knew Swing Out Sister was gonna be there.

I forget the name but it was a live TV dance show and I remember being in the audience looking silly ’cause I wasn’t dancing. I don’t recall me ever going out my way like that for a group before, but back in ’86, Swing Out Sister was hot!!

After the taping, I was headed to my car which was parked on Sunset Blvd. and guess who I saw? It was the group Swing Out Sister coming my way! They must’ve been having a late-night dinner at Denny’s or somethin’.

Anyway, I STOPPED THEM IN THEIR TRACKS RIGHT THERE ON THE STREET!

I told them I just attended their taping and I loved their music.  They were super friendly and thanked me for being a fan!  We made a little small talk, and that was it.

How can I ever forget Swing Out Sister’s BREAKOUT?!  Peep the video!
