Rasheed Wallace Comes Out of Retirement, Signs with the Lakers

Laker Nation has gotta be excited about this news–according to A. Sherrod Blakely of NECN.com, forward Rasheed Wallace, 37, has decided to come out of retirement to join the Los Angeles Lakers!

I totally forgot about Sheed.  I’m excited to see him play again.

Wallace last played for the Celtics in 2010 (when he faced the Lakers in the NBA Finals, ironically) and reportedly has agreed to a buyout deal with the Celtics and has been training for a comeback for several months.

His return to action has been rumored for weeks, fueled by a decent showing at Pro-Am tournament in North Carolina this summer.

It only became heightened by, according to league sources, a renewed conditioning regimen that apparently has him looking better than he has “in years.”

Since the Lakers have 14 players on their roster they can sign Wallace without having to cut a player to make roster space.

I know just what Im’a get Sheed for Christmas: a pick.

I know in most realms 37 is still the prime of your life, but for an athlete 37 is pretty old. I don’t know whether it’s good or bad. We shall see, but I’m doubtful. I like him and remember he wowed the crowd. But, I’d rather see him join the coaching staff.
