Keepin’ it Real: Oprah and ‘The Sistas’

There are some photos that simply just “touch me.” There’s also certain photos that I wished I photographed and this is one of them.

I stumbled on this one from actress Kym Whitley’s Facebook page and I really like this photo. It’s reveals a joyful, yet candid side of Oprah that we sometimes do not see and especially with “the sistas,” lol.

What makes this photo special to me is seeing all of “them” together (Mo’Nique, Kym..) and especially my friend, actress Margaret Avery (photo: top far right).

Ms. Avery graciously accepted a role in my first film ‘Lord Help Us’ and I was able to spend some time with her during the promotion of the film.

People forget, but Margaret Avery is an Oscar-nominated actress in her own right. (Best Actress in a Supporting Role for: The Color Purple -1985)

But I didn’t forget, hehe, and seein’ her reunited with Oprah was a joy to see.
