Round 2: Robin Givens Has Her Say, Oprah Apologizes for Mike’s ‘Sock Her’ Comment
Everyone in the audience laughed last month when Mike Tyson talked to Oprah about how he wanted to “sock” Robin Givens. Eventually he did…and several times, mind you.
I must admit that I was a bit perplexed in how the audience responded in such a humorous way. Maybe it was because we all “felt” for Mike on the show that day. He DID cry a lot, we felt sympathy for his daughter’s passing, and it was just plain nice to see Mikey take responsibility for a change.
Interestingly enough, I’ve had the opportunity in the past to connect with both Robin and Mike, separate times of course, but I can definitely assure you that the media inflates a lot of things when it comes to celebs. These people are human beings just like you and me and everyone has problems from time to time. That’s just life.
Anyway, I’m especially glad that Oprah gave Robin her say as well. Givens is a spokesperson for the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
Oprah apologized for not handling the situation better:
“In that moment, I will tell you, I felt that I should have said something. I felt that I should have said, ‘Audience, that isn’t funny’ or, ‘Audience, this is really serious…”
If you are experiencing domestic abuse please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1−800−799−SAFE (7233) or TTY 1−800−787−3224.

I didn’t see the Mike interview, but I will check it out. I’m glad Oprah apologized.
